The Orlando Magic have reached an agreement on a multi-year contract with Quentin Richardson, according to Yahoo Sports NBA writer Adrian Wojornowski. The 10-year NBA veteran shooting guard played last season with the Miami Heat, starting 75 games averaging 8.9 points and 4.9 rebounds per game. Orlando is Richardson's fifth NBA team. He was originally drafted by the Los Angeles Clippers with the 18th pick in the 2000 draft. He played four seasons with the Clippers, a season with the Suns, and from 2005-2009 with the New York Knicks. It's possible the six-foot-six Richardson would take guard J.J. Redick's spot on the Orlando bench. The Chicago Bulls last week signed Redick to a three-year $19 million offer sheet. Orlando Magic general manager Otis Smith said last week that it is likely the team would match Chicago's offer. If they fail to do so by Friday Redick becomes a Chicago Bull. The Orlando Sentinel reports that if the Magic sign Redick they will pay an extra $14 million in luxury tax. The report indicates the Magic may try to move salaries in order to lessen their salary cap number. Though paying Richardson much less and cutting ties with Redick will also work.
