As it becomes inevitable that Pete Rose will not enter Baseball’s Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York during his lifetime, the hit king’s hometown club will induct him into its Hall of Fame this summer.
The Reds announced on Tuesday that Rose will enter the team’s Hall of Fame during a specialized weekend June 24-26th.
And the logistics of this whole thing make it clear this will be a pseudo-Cooperstown election for the man banned for life, customer fit for a hometown legend.
As reported by C. Trent Rosecrans of the Cincinnati Enquirer the Reds will bypass their usual election process that prevented anyone from joining the team’s Hall of Fame who is on Major League Baseball’s permanently ineligible list, which Rose is on.
Pete Rose is headed to the Hall of Fame — the Reds Hall of Fame.
